India-based Bisleri International, a mineral water manufacturing company, plans to construct 25 new bottling plants allover India. The company also focuses on attaining a growth rate of 40% in 2009, reported AyaanBayaan News.

The company under its dual distribution plan intends to include smaller and interior markets and entering newer territories and increasing presence in the metros and existing markets in India. The company is also setting channels for its 20L jars to ensure the availability of services to its household and corporate customers. Its distribution network is also expanded.

The company, in order to expand its product portfolio in the water and beverages segment, would launch the flavoured water, which is expected in October 2009. Bisleri Fizzy Soda and Bisleri Mountain mineral water have already been introduced by the company into the market.

Ramesh Chauhan, chairman and managing director of Bisleri International, said: “To meet the growing demand for Bisleri from consumers we are working on expansion and hence will be setting up 25 new bottling plants across the country which will be in Maharashtra, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, UP, Orissa, Jharkhand and North Bengal states.”

The company intends to invest around $10m for constructing these new bottling plants. The plan is partially implemented by the company and partly by a franchisee.

Anjana Ghosh, director of Bisleri International, said: “Given the unavailability of clean drinking water, increase in water contamination and increasing health awareness among consumers has led to the growth of mineral water segment. Bisleri continues to lead in the Rs 1200 crore organised, mineral water market with a 60% market share, thus making it the undisputed market leader in the mineral drinking water category.”

Presently, the company owns and operates 52 bottling facilities in India. Its product portfolio includes Bisleri with Added Minerals, Bisleri Mountain Water and Bisleri Fizzy soda.
